Quick-Ship Fan/Coils & Light Duty Air Handlers

Not every project requires complicated and expensive Air Handling Units or (AHU’s). Smaller commercial projects often require the equivalent of light-duty AHU’s, or even Fan/Coil units. The main goal is to quickly build something that matches both the project identity in cost and engineering complexity.

One of the major problems in the HVAC industry is getting smaller commercial units built and delivered quickly. There are numerous companies that will manufacture cheap units, but what good is that if they do not ship for 12-14 weeks? Capital Coil & Air builds an entire series of Fan/Coil units and light-duty Belt-Drive AHU’s. Not only are our units economical, we’ll work with you to make sure you get what you need when you need it.

Capital Coil builds two kinds of units. Our Fan/Coil units are direct-drive only and range from 200 CFM – 1,200 CFM. Simply put, if the motor is mounted directly on the fan, then we identify that as a Fan/Coil unit. Capital Coil also builds light-duty commercial AHU’s. These are Belt-Drive units, which range from 400 – 8,000 CFM. There is an obvious overlap between Fan/Coils and Belt-Drive units, and Capital Coil is here to help you determine the correct choice based on your needs. In order to figure the correct type of unit, you need to figure out how you will be installing the unit, the cabinet design, and the direction of the airflow. Keep in mind also that our quick-ship program is available for just about any design that you want.

Capital Coil & Air has created a reference guide to help you make the correct selection:

  • Strip Malls/Shopping Centers
  • Dormitories and other college campus buildings
  • Military installations
  • Office areas in factories or other industrial settings
  • Condominiums

These examples do not need large heavy-duty units that are expensive and custom built. Instead, most of these units require standard light-duty construction that can provide 800-12,000 CFM. These units come with various options and choices, and are well-built with the highest quality components available. However, the units are not designed for overkill.

Capital Coil manufactures “Belt Drive” units that operate from 800 CFM (2 Tons) – 12,000 CFM (30 Tons). They are available in both horizontal and vertical airflow styles. Included are blowers, coils, drives, filters as well as additional accessories if required. Additionally, they are available in Chilled Water Coils, DX Coils, Hot Water Coils, and electric heat if needed.

So, why would you want to use these units in lieu of a heavy-duty air handler? Cost, cost, and cost again are the primary reasons. In addition, the light-duty units weigh less, they are more economical to install, and long-term maintenance is much easier. The overall cost of a Custom-Built Unit or a Semi-Custom Station Unit is dramatically higher and not needed in most installations.
